The MOOC Nectar: travel through the world of arthropods and nematodes
This new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) was developed under the “Open Science” call for projects funded by Agropolis Fondation as part of the “Investments for the Future” program, and with complementary financial support from Agreenium. Les inscriptions au Mooc Nectar sont ouvertes sur FUN platform (France Université Numérique)
The five-week course will explore taxonomy, a fundamental biological science. It will provide: (i) key information for collecting and identifying species present all around us, and (ii) essential knowledge for the implementation of pesticide-free crop protection strategies and biodiversity conservation management.
The lectures (in French and English) will contain theoretical and applied information. Through observations and case studies, participants will enrich the information provided within the course thanks to innovative pedagogical approaches and the collective construction of knowledge. Individual and collaborative activities will be proposed to enable everyone to appropriate course contents and test comprehension.
The MOOC targets a broad audience:
- A passionate public, curious about biodiversity, interested in discovering the world of arthropods/nematodes and the bases of their identification, and willing to share knowledge and learn from others.
- Professionals seeking to acquire knowledge and skills essential for the development of agroecosystem management strategies addressing current societal challenges such as biodiversity conservation and pesticide-free crop protection.
- Students willing to learn the scientific bases of how to operationalize crop management strategies using less pesticides.
Note: Some prerequisites (L3 or M1 in biology) are recommended.
